NUTRITION ADVISORY COUNCIL

The BIS Nutrition Advisory Council (NAC), formed Winter 2016, consists of BIS students, food service personnel, BIS teachers, and the Wellness Coordinator. The NAC 2016/17 meeting schedule will be on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month at lunch in the BIS library. The purpose of the NAC is to give students a voice regarding the school foods and to facilitate school meal improvements through direct communication between students and the food service operations. Other outcomes for the council is to educate its members on good nutrition so that they can act as health mentors to their peers, and to learn about food service in general. This year's goals include:

  • develop the NAC into a regular meeting council with clear goals
  • apply results from last year's student food preference survey
  • conduct at least one food tasting
  • conducting a 5-minute school lunch meal contest
