Dan Devoy joined the Board of Trustees in March, 2022.  He and his wife were both born and raised on the peninsula, and moved to Burlingame in 2017.  They have two children.  One child is currently enrolled in the Burlingame School District and the other will join in a few years.

Dan grew up attending public schools in the neighboring town of San Carlos, and volunteered for military service in the Army upon high school graduation.  He served two enlistments in the Army, including an 18 month deployment as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  Upon completion of military service, Dan obtained his law degree, and began his career as a civil litigator.  Later, he created his own private practice with an emphasis in real estate law.  For the last eight years Dan has been a Professor of Law at Golden Gate School of Law in San Francisco, where he teaches Civil Procedure, Evidence, and Internet Torts.  He is also the founding Director of the law school’s Veterans’ Clinic, which provides pro bono representation to disabled military veterans, and military members that were discriminated against by the government based on race, ethnicity, or LGBTQ+ status.

Dan is committed to providing a well-rounded education to all students and preparing them to succeed in high school, and begin the path towards their higher education. Dan’s focus is to ensure Burlingame schools maintain their excellent achievement record, while maintaining fiscal discipline that will allow future Burlingame students to enjoy the same great education system we have today.

I recently moved back to Burlingame with my husband, two-year old son and our labradoodle named Ralphie. I am a proud former student of McKinley and BIS, which I believe laid a strong foundation for my own education as a first-generation student in the US. I’m thrilled to rejoin the community in which I grew up. These days, I am a practicing attorney and law firm partner here on the peninsula. When I’m not working, you can find me walking with my family and a dark roast coffee through the farmers market on Sunday or buried in a fiction book even when I promised I would sleep early.

LISA MUDD

Ms. Mudd was first elected in 2020 and is serving her first term (2020-2024). Trustee Mudd is in Trustee Area 1.

Lisa Mudd joined the Burlingame School District Governing Board of Trustees in December of 2020.  She and her husband have two children and Lisa has been a deeply engaged member of the Burlingame community since moving here in 2016.  Lisa has served on the BCE Board of Directors as both the Lincoln Site Director and the VP of Site Directors.  She is an active member of the PTA, a strong supporter and volunteer for BCE, and also serves as a School Site Council Representative and Room Parent at Lincoln Elementary.

Lisa is a 2020 graduate of the San Mateo Leadership Program, she served as a Measure M representative and has also spent many volunteer hours with Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense. She is currently working towards completion of the Masters In Governance Program through the California School Boards Association.

Lisa was an Elementary Educator for over ten years in both Chicago Public Schools and with the Mill Valley School District.  Her time as an educator left her with a deep appreciation for equity, and well-rounded, progressive education.  Having spent time on many sides of the table — teacher, parent, fundraiser, organizer — Lisa appreciates the need to consider all stakeholders.

Outside of BSD, Lisa works in interior design and enjoys spending time with her family and friends, being outdoors, and traveling.
