Immigration Resources for Families
Burlingame School District is committed to the success of all students and to providing a safe and welcoming place for students, their families, and staff irrespective of their citizenship or immigration status.
California Assembly Bill No. 699 (AB 699) strengthens protections for students by ensuring that all public schools provide equal access to education regardless of a student’s or their family’s immigration or citizenship status, explicitly prohibiting discrimination, harassment, intimidation, or bullying on that basis and requiring schools to have clear policies and complaint processes in place. The law also limits schools from collecting information about students’ or families’ immigration status (unless required by law), requires districts to inform families of their rights to a free public education, and directs schools to adopt policies that protect student privacy and restrict immigration enforcement activities on campuses, helping ensure that schools remain safe, welcoming environments for all students.
Burlingame School District's Board Policy 1445 (BP 1445) and Administrative Regulation 1445 (AR 1445) are linked for review.
