Board Briefs for November 14, 2017

Here are the Board Briefs for the November 14, 2017 Board Meeting:
  1. Marla Silversmith ~ Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services~ The Board of Trustees is pleased to announce Marla Silversmith as the new Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services. Mrs. Silversmith is currently the Special Education Director in Pleasanton Unified School District where she has spent the last 16 years serving students, teachers and families in a variety of teaching and leadership roles. We are happy she has joined our team and look forward to her starting in early December.
  2. Recognition of Outgoing Board Member ~ Doug Luftman~ Trustee Doug Luftman was recognized by representatives from Senator Jerry Hill's office and Assemblymember Kevin Mullin's office. The Board of Trustees and Superintendent appreciate Trustee Luftman's dedication to BSD while serving on the board.
  3. California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) Dashborad~ The Board of Trustees received an overview of the CAASPP and the District's priorities.
  4. Multipurpose Rooms (MPR) Modernization Projects for all K-5 elementary schools (except Hoover)~ The Board of Trustees approved the MPR modernization projects.
  5. Computer Science Education Week~ The Board of Trustees recognized December 4-10, 2017 as Computer Science Education Week and all Burlingame schools will participate in the "Hour of Code", which is a global movement reaching tens of millions of students in 180+ countries.
