Active Learning and Making

Making, whether through a more scaffolded approach connected to content learning or a more open-ended exploratory approach, provides an amazingly rich context for active learning.

Making is a creative endeavor that empowers learners and builds confidence. As learners make, they learn, and as they learn, they apply gained knowledge and skills to new learning.

Making increases engagement and contributes not only to academic growth but to the development of social, emotional growth. It provides opportunities to develop desired skills useful now and into each learner's future.

For these reasons and more, BSD continues to work to grow conditions for making and active learning for our students.
